A core activity of the SDG Lab is organizing brainstorming sessions for the Geneva 2030 Ecosystem ahead of the annual High-Level Political Forum (HLFP). The HLPF is the main United Nations platform on sustainable development, used to assess country-level progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs).
In 2019, two meetings of the HLPF will be held in New York: one under the auspice of the UN Economic and Social Council, from July 9-18; and one under the auspice of the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly, from September 24-25.
For its part, the Lab convenes members of the Ecosystem to ensure everyone is on the same page when it comes to being aware of key HLPF themes to be discussed, the SDGs under review, various activities taking place in the lead up to and during the Forum, and the ways different stakeholders can participate and contribute.
The brainstorming session also enables the Lab to highlight the activities it undertakes on the sidelines of the HLPF, which includes managing a WhatsApp group with daily highlights and organizing a ‘meet and greet’ of Geneva actors while they are in New York City.
