The third edition of Building Bridges Week (BBW) 2022 - a collaborative effort for advancing sustainable finance in Switzerland and around the globe - will take place from 3-6 October 2022, at the Centre International de Conférences Geneva (CICG), with many sessions available online. BBW is more than an event; it is a powerful international movement of committed people and organizations dedicated to accelerating the transition to a sustainable financial system and to building a bridge towards a global economic model aligned with the needs of a sustainable and just society. This year, BBW will focus on action-oriented discussions on mainstreaming Finance for Nature and Climate; Agriculture, Food and Land Use; Innovation in Sovereign Debt Management; Social Justice and Financial Inclusion and Just transition.

As one of the co-founders for BBW, SDG Lab will be co-hosting the following events:

“Investing for Change in Africa”, UNDP, Alpha Mundi, SDG Lab | Wednesday 5 October, 9:00 – 10:30 CET, Room C

This session will illustrate the rising opportunities in Africa to redirect investments to the SDGs. It brings together policy makers, investors and enterprises to provide examples and insights on efforts and partnerships to mobilize public and private investment to effect change for sustainable development.

"Growing SDG-Aligned Investments on the African continent”, SDG Lab, Ground_Up Project, Nairobi International Financial Center, Ghana Investment Promotion Center, Swiss Embassy in Nairobi | Wednesday, 5 October, 11:00 – 12:30 CET, Workshop Room 14

This practical, hands-on workshop will bring together entrepreneurs, investors and government officials from two major African emerging markets - Ghana and Kenya - in a dynamic exchange and discussion on the national investment conditions, the investment needs and the priority SDGs.

“Digital Transformation of the finance sector: risks and opportunities for SDG financing”, a joint workshop organized by SDG Lab, IISD and CyberPeace Institute Digitalization Workshop | Thursday, 6 October, 09:00 to 10:30 (CET), Workshop Room 14

Digitization of financial services is rapidly helping to provide innovative digital solutions that enable SDG financing. While exploring opportunities and risks associated with digitalization as a tool for a holistic, integrated and human-centric approach to sustainable investments, the workshop will be composed of a number of breakout groups tackling different aspects of this theme such as: cybersecurity, blockchain technologies, digital match-making platforms and gender equality through financial inclusion.
